A little perspective

I wanted to provide readers a little background on the family whose house we built ealier this week in San Juan Carmona. The family is Sican Baeza and currently the family squats on their land, which is 2.0 x3.0 square meters. Their monthly income is $156 US dollars per month (no, that is not a typo). The walls of their home are made of concrete blocks, the roof is made of steel and the floor is a concrete slab. Their water comes from a public faucet and they use an outhouse for a bathroom. They have electricity on the property, but use a wood stove to cook. It is definitely one of the nicer homes I have seen in here, but an upgrade was a welcome improvement I am sure. The house we built was two rooms on top of a concrete slab with pressed concrete panels. I will post pictures when I return to the States to provide the visual. Two hundred sweat equity hours were given to Common Hope (Familias de Esperanza) in exchange for this home.
